I happened to come across a set of the reprints. Inside the cover where some stickers that had the website bibletoday.com in them. The Bible Students are the only ones that keep the books coming, they have been given up by the WTS a long time ago.

My story is totally out there. I once heard about this guy that was in our circut. I heard that he had come to the conclusion that he was "anointed". The story went like this:
He was going through a divorce. The divorce was scriptural, but not in your typical sense. It came out that they had never made the marriage "offical" if you get what i'm saying. People where set back, they where married for at least a few years I think. Most thought that it was a lie, but the decision stayed. Around this time the guy started thinking he was anointed. I don't think he ever partook at the memorial. Eventually he got remarried. I don't think the same odd behavior carried over to the next marrige. It's been around 3-4 years now. -

Restatement
by pratt1 in.
for those of you that have been dfed - how long did it take you to be reinstated, and how long did you continue to be active?.
i was reinstated after 5 months out and i continued to be active for about 5 years.. although i have to admit, i never felt the same about the dubs after i was reinstated, and should have quit the religion much earlier.

I've never had to go through any of this stuff, but I know plenty of people who have. I agree that they are NEVER fully forgiven for what they have done. I find it amazing that what a person does has to be made public in front of everybody he knows. It is just so ignorant. The congregation puts a label on that person that can never be taken away. The amazing thing I find is that elders complain about how people are never fully accepted back and that people are not forgiving enough. Don't they realize this is the outcome of spreading dirt and labeling a person "bad". They put this person in a low and destestable position, and then complain that people arn't accepting of them later on. How bogus.
They will never see that the entire process is flawed. Like many of us, they are blinded by the "truth". -

I think we all have known somebody like this. Very impressionable and weak in spirit, allways having a pushy and unrealisitic additude based upon things they don't even understand.

It helps keep no distractions, they want you only to focus on the "life saving" material.

Another question about JW
by Shazard inas i never been jw i can't understand why some of you bother writing some letters.
if being in wt is not legaly binding (as i understood that baptism is not legaly binding), then who cares about writing.
just stop going to kh and that's all.

The entire JW expierance is a very "legal" process, even if it's not legal in the truest sense. The Watchtower demands of its members to go to their previous places of worship and denounce their belifs, sometimes writing an official letter stating why you no longer want to be part of that religion. In addition to this I think many who write letters want to let the organization as well as their local elders the reasons for their decision to leave. Rumors are started, lies are told, but at least you rest knowing that you did your best to confront the issues and stand up for yourself the best you could.

what Do I Write In An Appeal Letter?
by Diogenes inmy friend has just been disfellowshipped today.... they want to appeal?.
what are the kinds of things that should be written in an appeal letter?.
i really appreciate any swift responses, as time is of the essence, due to the pesky 1 week rule!.

The entire thing is based on the judging sincerity. If they don't want it to happen then they are going to have to make stuff up and put on a good show. Trying to reason with these people is like talking to a board.
I think Elsewhere gave you the most to go on. Good luck! -

Is truth the end of philosophy? or the goal of philosophy?
by DavidChristopher incan you get too close to god?
if truth is where philosophy ends...where does it begin?.
any thoughts?.

Sometimes I like to wonder if we are all just pawns in some kind of sick cosmic joke.
I heard a philosophy teacher (and priest) say that once. I love it. -

What happens if someone gets sick at an Assembly?
by MinisterAmos ini keep meaning to ask one of the super dubs this question, but i'm afraid it will "stumble" them.
in the weeks before assembly we are given the list of do's and don'ts at ministry school.
one of the instructions is always something like "if you notice that a person has become ill (has an attack etc.

I actually did get sick at an assembly once. REALLY sick. They took me to a back room where there was the "nurse" AKA some old lady with a bottle of asprin. A friend ended up taking me home.
One time there was this girl going into some kind of shock and she needed attention fast. One of the other attendents who had gone to the nurses station came back with the nurse (no lie about 5-8 minutes later because the whole building was overcrowded). While we where waiting she sat down and started feeling better. The entire thing was a joke. Good thing that girl didn't need real help, she would have been in troubble.
